HearTrend

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 17, 2026

HearTrend charts the hearing tests stored in Apple Health. It was designed so that your hearing data stays on your iPhone and goes only where you choose to send it.

The short version

  • HearTrend does not collect, store, or transmit your data to us or to anyone else.
  • There are no accounts, no servers, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking.
  • Your hearing tests leave your iPhone only when you share them yourself, and only with the people you choose.

Health data

With your permission, HearTrend reads the audiograms (hearing test results) stored in Apple Health so it can chart them. It reads each test’s date, the hearing levels at each frequency for each ear, and the name of the device or app that recorded it.

  • HearTrend only reads from Health. It never writes to Health or changes your Health data.
  • Your Health data is used only to show your charts in the app. It is never used for advertising, never sold, and never disclosed to anyone.
  • You can turn off HearTrend’s access at any time in Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › HearTrend.

Sharing your tests

You can share your tests in two ways, and only when you choose to:

  • As a PDF: a report of the charts on screen.
  • As a HearTrend file: a file another person can open in HearTrend to see your charts. It contains your hearing tests as recorded in Health (including the name of the device or app that recorded each one), the name you type when sharing, and a random identifier created on your iPhone so the other person’s app can recognize later files from you. The identifier is not linked to your Apple Account or to any other information about you.

You choose where to send these files, for example through Messages, Mail, or AirDrop. They go only where you send them, and the service you use to send them handles their delivery. HearTrend keeps no copy anywhere else.

Tests others share with you

When you open a HearTrend file someone sent you, its tests are stored only on your iPhone. They are excluded from iCloud and from device backups, and they are never added to your Health data. You can remove a person and their tests at any time in People › Manage People.

Settings stored on your iPhone

HearTrend stores a few preferences on your iPhone only: the name you share with, the random sharing identifier described above, and your chart settings, such as the time-of-day filter.

File previews

HearTrend includes a small extension that draws the thumbnail iOS shows for HearTrend files in Files and Messages. It reads the file on your iPhone to show the sender’s name and the date of the newest test, and sends nothing anywhere.

Deleting your data

  • Shared tests: remove a person in Manage People.
  • Everything: deleting HearTrend removes all data it stored on your iPhone.
  • Your Health data: stays in Apple Health, which HearTrend never changes.

Children

HearTrend is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone.

Medical note

HearTrend shows your hearing test results; it does not diagnose or interpret them. Talk with a hearing professional about your results.
